Privacy Policy

1. What Data We Collect

1.1 Local app data

All your tasks, groups, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple Core Data and synced to your personal iCloud (CloudKit), so data is shared amongst devices logged in with the same Apple ID. This data is never sent to our servers or any third-party servers we control.

1.2 Support communication

If you contact us (for example, by email), we will receive your email address and any information you choose to share. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry.

1.3 Crash Reports and App Analytics

We may receive anonymous analytics and crash data from Apple’s App Store Connect or Xcode Cloud. This may include general information such as:

  • App version
  • Device type (e.g., iPhone 15, macOS model)
  • Operating system version
  • Anonymous performance and crash metrics
  • App version

These reports do not include any personally identifiable information (PII) or your task data.

We do not collect:

  • Names
  • Contacts
  • Location data
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Usage tracking beyond Apple's anoymized metrics

2. How we use the data

We only use the limited data described above to:

    * Respond to your messages or support requests * Diagnose technical issues * Improve app reliability and performance We never use your data for marketing, profiling, or advertising.

3. Data Storage and Retention

  • Local app data stays on your device and iCloud account until you delete the data.
  • Crash logs and analytics provided by Apple are automatically deleted after a limited period (as defined by Apple).
  • Support emails are deleted within 90 days of resolving your inquiry, unless required by law to keep them longer.

If you delete the app, your iCloud data remains in your iCloud account until you remove it manually.

4. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share, sell, or rent your data. The only third parties that may process limited technical data are:

We may disclose data only if required by law or legal process.

5. Contact Us

We do not transfer or store personal data outside of your device or your iCloud account. However, Apple’s analytics systems may process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. Apple uses safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect transferred data.

6. Security

We take security seriously:

  • We do not have access to your iCloud data.
  • Crash and analytics data are transmitted securely through Apple’s systems

However, no system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights (EU/EEA Users)

If you are in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: Ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restriction: Limit how we process your data.
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a Data Protection Authority in your country.

8. Children's privacy

DayToDay is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect or process any personal data from users, including children. If a child uses the app, their information stays entirely on their own device and iCloud account. If you believe that a child has shared personal information with us (for example, through a support email), please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

9. Cookies and website tracking

Our website (https://teunvdkleij.github.io/DayToDayWebsite/) does not use cookies or tracking technologies. We use only GitHub Pages, which may collect basic technical logs (e.g., IP addresses) for operational purposes.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we will:

  • Update the “Effective Date” above
  • Post the new version on our website
  • (If required) Notify users through the app

12. Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If you reside outside the Netherlands, your use of DayToDay constitutes consent to the transfer and processing of your data as described above.
